Case Study: The City of St. Pete Beach – Energy Efficiency & Community Reinvestment Program

After being awarded an energy efficiency grant from the State Energy Office, the City of St. Pete Beach selected Hill York’s Energy solutions group for design and implementation of a comprehensive energy efficiency program.  Hill York ranked first amongst all companies competing for the City’s business through the public procurement process.

Project Scope: After being awarded an energy efficiency grant from the State Energy Office, the City of St. Pete Beach selected Hill York’s Energy solutions group for design and implementation of a comprehensive energy efficiency program. Hill York ranked first amongst all companies competing for the City’s business through the public procurement process.

Detailed energy assessments were performed at all City facilities with the final comprehensive scope consisting of high efficiency heating and air conditioning systems, web enabled controls, recomissioning of existing control systems, solar thermal hot water heating, lighting systems and occupancy controls. The project was engineered in-house, managed and self implemented by Hill York technicians. The project was completed on time and on budget leading to high accolades from state auditors.
The project reduced energy consumption in the City by over $33,000 annually which was higher than initial projections. Hill York worked with Progress Energy to secure a rebate of approximately $3,000 for the City.

This comprehensive energy program was amongst the most successful in the state and was written about in the monthly newsletter. Hill York also received this letter of recommendation from the City for their efforts.
