Hill York was recently selected to be the HVAC subcontractor on the new Palm Beach Outlet Mall construction project. A huge part of Phase I of this project occurred at the end of September when a team of 14 Hill Yorkers and a helicopter crew air-lifted and placed 170 units in less than four hours! This incredible feat translates into an average of one and a half minutes per unit! Hill York’s EVP, Jeff Phillabaum, was there for the event and said, “I couldn’t have been prouder to be a Hill Yorker. The planning and execution worked out perfectly.”
Project Manager Mark Sullivan, foreman Jim Alfano, and ground team leader Mike Brennan met and coordinated with the helicopter crew to ensure all the details of this project were pre-planned. Some of these included sorting equipment, labeling roof curbs and units, and preparing a written lift plan for each of the 10 separate buildings!
According to Mark, “Changes occurred all the way up to the day of lift…but our team was prepared and carefully executed a well-orchestrated plan.” Other Hill Yorkers working on the ground and roof were Chris Grigsby, Kenny Norris, Steve Volendorf, Derek Back, Dave Gilbert, and Anthony Scalone. Additionally involved were Chip Lafferty, Jeff Phillabaum, Justin Phillabaum, Mike Senecal and Steve Heying.
From the ground team’s amazing job in extreme conditions to the roof crew’s outstanding coordination of landing each unit in the right location without losing a beat, this project is a great example of the superior planning, team work, leadership and talent of Hill York.
The project is expected to be completed in December 2013, with the first phase of the mall opening in February. The outlet mall will feature approximately 500,000 square feet of outlet shopping including many of the best names in fashion including Saks Fifth Avenue, Juicy Couture, Jos. A. Bank, Banana Republic, Gap, Toys R Us, Nike, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Ann Taylor, Rack Room Shoes, Loft, J. Crew Coach, and many more.
