Hill York hearts were full of gratitude this holiday season, as they participated in not one but two special Sheridan House drives to give support and aid to South Florida families in need.
Sheridan House was established in 1968 as a home for boys with behavioral issues. Since then, the Sheridan House Residential Program has grown from one home caring for eight boys to five homes caring for almost 70 middle-school aged boys and girls each year. Additionally, over the last 40+ years, the vision to help today’s family has expanded dramatically. In their quest to respond to families in need, they created a social services division for single parents who are currently experiencing a serious short term economic need.
In the spirit of giving thanks, Hill Yorkers came together to donate hearty Thanksgiving meals in support of Sheridan House’s Annual Food Drive. Sheridan House continues to provide relief by collecting donations of canned goods, dry foods and 14 lb. turkeys to provide families in crisis a full family-style traditional Thanksgiving meal. These goods are distributed in an effort to ease the financial stress of a hurting family and offer hope.
Then just as Thanksgiving came to pass, Hill York began collecting unwrapped toys for Sheridan House’s Annual Toy Drive. All toy and gift certificate donations are used to pack the SH Christmas Toy Shoppe with presents in hopes of giving every child the joyous experience of opening at least one gift on Christmas morning.
